According to nitric oxide scientist Dr. Nathan Bryan, resistant hypertension is due to oral dysbiosis. Two-thirds of Americans use mouthwash every day, and two-thirds of Americans have an unsafe elevation in blood pressure.

Chlorhexidine, alcohol-based and antiseptic mouthwashes kill 99.9% of the bacteria in the mouth, including the good bacteria. Some of the oral bacteria are responsible for producing nitric oxide, which causes vasodilation of systemic blood vessels.
