85% of patients with refractory angina see a profound reduction in symptoms after EECP—but it isn’t for the reason doctors originally thought.

For decades, the medical community assumed Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) worked by forcing more oxygenated blood into the heart (The Central Hypothesis). However, SPEC imaging and radionuclide studies have dismantled this theory, showing zero increase in blood flow to ischemic regions.
