Who is Dr. Anthony James?
Dr. Anthony B. JamesĀ is an internationally recognized educator, author, and practitioner of traditional healing arts with more than four decades of experience in natural medicine, Ayurveda, Indigenous medicine, and Traditional Thai Medicine. He is the founder and Director of Education of the SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine and the Thai Yoga Center, where he has trained and graduated more than 20,000 students worldwide since 1984.
Widely regarded as one of the pioneers responsible for introducing Traditional Thai Medicine and Thai Yoga Therapy to Western audiences, Dr. James authored one of the first English-language books on Thai Massage,Ā Nuat Thai: Traditional Thai Medical Massage, in 1983. He later published the award-winning textbookĀ Ayurveda of Thailand: Indigenous Traditional Thai Medicine and Yoga Therapy, which received the 2017 eLit Silver Medal and AAPNA Veda Vyasa Award for excellence in Ayurvedic education.
Dr. James has studied extensively in Thailand, India, China, Burma, Ecuador, and the United States, integrating traditional healing systems with contemporary wellness approaches. He was honored with Thailand’s prestigious “Friend of Thailand” Award and became one of the first Westerners formally recognized as an Ajahn (Master Teacher) of Traditional Thai Medicine.
Today, Dr. James continues to teach internationally, sharing his expertise in Ayurveda, Thai Yoga Therapy, Indigenous medicine, and holistic approaches to health, healing, and human performance.
