The Coimbra Protocol: High Dose Vitamin D for Autoimmune Disease
William Clearfield, DO, HMD, FAAFRM, FAAMA a graduate of LaSalle College and the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in family and integrative medicine. After completing a rotating internship, he served as an OB/GYN resident at Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. In 1982, he earned his certification from the American Board of Family Medicine, following his Family Practice residency at United Health and Hospital Services in Kingston, PA. Since then, Dr. Clearfield has been a leading figure in his field, consistently advancing the practice of family and integrative medicine.
Dr. Clearfield has developed significant postgraduate expertise in several areas. He studied Cardiac Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin/Lacrosse and Medical Acupuncture at UCLA, earning his credentials in 1991. Dr. C became a member at large on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 1992 and served as Secretary of the AAMA from 1993-1997. He was the editor of the Journal of Medical Acupuncture from 1993-1995. In 1994, Dr. Clearfield established the Medical Acupuncture Rehabilitation Clinic at the John Heinz Rehabilitation Hospital in Wilkes Barre, Pa. and in 1997 he chaired the 9th annual conference of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in Washington, DC.
Dr. C pursued training in age management and non-surgical aesthetic medicine, achieving Fellowship and Diplomate status from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Here Dr. C was able to marry his two passions, hormone optimization and medical acupuncture.
As a highly sought-after speaker, Dr. Clearfield frequently addresses key industry groups. His presentations include engagements with the Age Management Medical Group, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, OMED, the American Osteopathic Association’s Scientific Convention, the Nevada Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic Society of Rheumatologic Disease. He presents regularly to the students at SVYASA University in Bengaluru, India, and the first through tenth Global Webinars on Traditional and Alternative Medicine.
Dr. Clearfield plays a significant role in the broader osteopathic community. He represented Nevada as one of three delegates to the American Osteopathic Association’s House of Delegates and served as the Executive Director of the American Osteopathic Society of Rheumatic Diseases and the American Osteopathic Society of Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Clearfield established the Clearfield Training Program to practitioners in their journey in the field of anti-aging medicine and medical acupuncture. The Clearfield Training Program consists of fourteen video modules covering all aspects of anti-aging medicine with a sharp focus on hormone optimization, non-surgical facelifts, and medical acupuncture. Dr. C shows how to incorporate acupuncture training into a hormone optimization program and provides dozens of tips and tricks he learned in his forty-plus years of clinical practice
