Who Is Bob Greska?

Bob Greska received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass) in 1978, focusing on materials science and carbon technologies. He joined Lockheed Missile and Space in 1978, where he became the Process Engineer overseeing fabrication of ceramic billets used for the Space Shuttle Columbia’s reentry heat shield tiles.

Bob Greska’s Engineering Legacy

  • Space Shuttle Tiles: Oversaw processing parameters for ceramic billet fabrication.
  • Space Shuttle External Tanks: Initiated test programs for production scale-up.
  • Magellan Venus Probe: Tested reflective coatings for solar degradation.
  • Space Backpack (MMU): Provided materials engineering support.
In 1980, he relocated to Colorado to support carbon fiber spacecraft structures at Martin Marietta Aerospace, contributing to Boeing’s 767 engine nacelle design and multiple NASA programs. He later founded Engineering Innovations, LLC, designing carbon, Kevlar, and composite structures for medical, aerospace, and performance applications.
