Complementary/Alternative Medicine Gains Youthful Following

Harvard Medical School team finds that 12% of American children and teens use Complementary/Alternative Medicine (CAM).

To elucidate the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and factors associated with its use among American children and teens, Gurjeet Birdee, from Harvard Medical School (Massachusetts, USA), and colleagues surveyed 9,417 individuals ages 18 and under.   Excluding vitamins and minerals from the definition of CAM, the researchers found that 12% of children and adolescents in the US used CAM.  Further, they noted that those children of adults who embrace CAM are more likely to use the therapies.
