Certainly, the 25-year-old next to you has a good chance of making it. Life expectancy is on its way up, up, up. In the US, there are over 75,000 centenarians already and according to the Census Bureau, that figure will rise to 800,000 by the year 2050. In India, the average age at Independence was 32. It’s expected to hit 75 by the year 2015.

Armies of scientists are marching to combat with cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s – and winning.
